Battling Through the Uncertainty Life Provides Us

Life can be difficult and we’ll often be put in situations that cause us to have uncertainty about what the future holds. Although our brains are wired to overthink things and constantly worry about the future, there are ways to handle this uncertainty in a healthy way.

It’s natural to experience fear, stress, anxiety, and lack of patience when faced with uncertainty in life, but we must learn to fight these feelings or emotions. They will lead us to make irrational decisions and shy away from what we believe in.

When you can get your brain back on a rational track instead of giving way to your limbic system, which controls your emotions, you’ll start to make the right choices in life. Before you know it, that uncertainty will transform into excitement about what the future has in store for you.

If you’re trying to quiet your limbic system so you can think rationally and prevent the uncertainty and “what if” thoughts, I have several pieces of advice for you. Let’s take a look!

Don’t Let Negative Thoughts Define You

When we start to look towards the future, it’s very common to immediately look at the worst case. For some reason, we are far more infatuated with the negative things in life than the positive ones.

I’m not saying these negative thoughts are useless because they can typically be used as warning signs for what to look out for. At the same time, these negative thoughts shouldn’t overstay their welcome and shouldn’t compromise the positive thoughts you have on a daily basis.

Use the negative thoughts wisely, but don’t let them stop you from chasing the good things in life.

Understand What’s In Your Control

A majority of the uncertainty we experience daily will be rooted in things out of our personal control. It doesn’t matter how you feel about the future, some things are just out of our hands and we must stay faithful that things will work out in our favor.

In the event things don’t go in our favor, we must learn to always get back up when we fall. As long as we give 100% effort 100% of the time, then we’ll know we gave it everything we had.

Things will work out for a reason, both the positives and negatives. If we can stay rational with our actions, we’ll find that our dreams and goals are closer than we think. We just have to stay prepared, stay dedicated, and learn to adapt when life takes a left turn.

Expect the Best, Prepare for the Worst

Uncertainty is inevitable. It’s one of the foundations of life itself. We aren’t certain how long we’ll be alive for, we don’t know exactly how secure our jobs are, and tragic events can happen at any moment. While all that is true, it doesn’t mean we should give up our quality of life as a result.

We need to keep a level-head and balanced mindset when looking towards the future. We need to learn to expect the best in every situation, but also learn to prepare for the worst. When we are ready for anything, it’ll be much easier to make the right decisions when life goes south.

Things will happen as they happen, but you can stay on track with the right guidance.
